To produce some of the most beautiful yet difficult of photographs - Glass Wetplates.
Wetplate photography, I was so mesmerised by its wonderful aesthetic, I promised myself to taks to produce just 20, 10 x 8 Glass Wetplates. After 6 months of research and work - searching for and purchasing huge 18th Century brass lenses and a massive rare, old wooden camera, sourcing highly toxic chemicals worldwide. Then left with the difficult technical task of producing the glass plates just outside my studio, I went to work. The results are 20 one-off glass plates hand printed to 8 x 10 Silver Gelatin prints. Only one print was made from each plate. It was a promise, a promise worth every bit of the journey.
