It was 5.30am, - 3 degrees on a crisp clear blue morning I walked 10km's to a billabong where the platypus swim.
When I entered the forest I followed a thin dirt path made by deers. I followed the track and entered into this ampitheatre where was the most amazing billabong. The billabong where the platypus live. I changed into my wetsuit and went into the billabong as quietly as I could. The water was absolutley freezing. The water was so clear and fresh I could see everything underneath. As I swam quiet breathstroke in the billabong there was not a sound - not even a morning bird. I swam two lengths of the billabong. It was quiet, it was freezing, there was no sound - a moment I will never forget.
